Karl Gnass Caricature

Here's a caricature of my storyboard teacher, the great Karl Gnass. I never actually showed this to him. Perhaps I should if I take his class again. He's a pretty cool guy who despite that sometimes looks very annoyed with everything.

One Cool Cat

Fun fact: I don't like cats. At least not real ones. Most likely because I'm allergic to them. But some of my favorite cartoon characters have been cats and I do enjoy drawing them. You know what else I enjoy? The Kid's Story segment from The Animatrix, mainly because of that rough animation style. That's something I tried to capture here. Sometimes when I come up with characters I like to give them theme songs. I'd like to think his theme song is Mellow My Man by The Roots.

MORE ORCS AND A ....THING!

Here are a few of the sketches I forgot to upload the other day.

This one is actually from a scrap of paper at work. I figured i'd just ad some horns, bumps, and pointy ears to make him look a little less like a gorilla.

This one was deemed "too cartoony." I was told they wanted to avoid a Shrek looking character. Can't argue with that. (Never been a big fan of Shrek.)

This...I don't know. I started drawing an Orc, then I gave him a panther nose and whiskers and....well I guess he's a panther now.

Orcs

I was asked to help come up with some Orc designs recently. Here are a few of the results.

I was a little surprised that this last sketch was the one that made it into the "good" pile. Ideally he wanted this face on the body of the Orc in the previous picture, only with smaller hands.

Simisage is SUUUUUUUUUUUUUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I couldn't resist giving this one a quick color job. There's a reason why I named him Franky. Because he's SUUUUUUPERRRRRRR!!!! Don't get it? That's because you're life lacks a sever amount of One Piece.

Storyboard Project: "The Wolf and the Canary"

Here's one of several storyboard projects I did for my class with Karl Gnass. The assignment was to adapt a fable. I chose the Wolf and the Crane. This was actually the second homework assignment. Why did I change the crane into a canary? I don't know. A hilarious and embarrassing mistake perhaps? Anyway, here's The Wolf and the Canary.

I'll upload more as I get them scanned.
